Thank you for making by far the best cover I've heard on anything I've done. You'd push half a million singles in Germany with that stuff, sounds great.

I lost count after some fifteen remakes from other people on various old songs I once made on the C64 (or Amiga for that matter), but they're all crap more or less whereas your song is too good an effort to be putting into a Danko-cover when you could make your own stuff from the build up.

I feel very humble now.

Not very kind 1st post. Expecially thinking about Makke's remix of Hammerfist, that won the 1st Remix of The Year contest, and is very considered in the remix community.

Makke's remix maybe isn't so refined and professionaly produced, maybe won't be able to make a club full of german childish teenagers dance, but has a soul. And is definitely not crap.

Mind you I wrote more or less. Besides, I read Makke didn't really care much about my original to begin with and from what I know he never finished it. However, since the part of the original that he "covered" was more or less made by Bach I don't think the rest was that cool. Then again, I don't think the original sid was very cool at all.

As far as Makke's music goes I think his Hammerfist cover is among the least good stuff, and that he's produced way better material than this.

I'm still a bit crushed by the Angel cover, anyway, so I apologize for not showing good manners.

Wow, thanks a lot. That really warmed my heart!

Eventually this track will (hopefully) be on my C64 Remix Album. It will be pre-mastered in the US by one of the top mastering engineers in the world - right now I'm going for Gateway Mastering (Adam Ayan, who did Link Park etc.), they'll do it for only $3.000, which is very reasonable right now because of the low dollar value against the Danish Krone.

However, I need to contact all the various original SID composers and agree on a copyright split on the performance+mechanical royalties. Obviously Chris Abbott should be able to facilitate some of this, the rest I'll have to contact personally. So far I'm in touch with Jeroen Tel.

Perhaps I could send you an email, and we could discuss this?

I picked Hammerfist because it was easy to fit lyrics on there, and it was a more or less unknown SID, so I wouldn't have to worry about destroying someone's favourit SID with my voice.

As for never finishing it, you're probably thinking about the Plastic Pop version I sent you some two or three years ago. I never finished that one, and probably never will. A) Because the original source files are lost, and B) because I could never top your own re-worked version of it.

I agree. Hammerfist is miles away from what I do today, even though I'm far from a great producer. However I never rely on technical or sonic perfection to give my music creations an "edge". That's what my creativity is for.

And I do hope that my Hammerfist doesn't make anyone dance, because that would probably be one lame dance.

It's very popular, and probably considered a classic by some. It has aged pretty badly though, in my personal opinion. But I defenitely don't think it's crap.

So you wanna crush the master into oblivion US style? Then you want Vlad the Impaler... Otherwise, I'd recommend Bob Katz at Digital Domain for that euphonic result. Only, I guess it's not going to be loud enough for some people.
