Hi all,

After following Romeo's link again for the FX Teleport software, this caught my eye (from the same programmers): http://www.fxfreeze.com/

In a nutshell, it creates a small snowflake icon on the VST interface which you click when you want to 'freeze' the VST instrument.

Click the small snowflake and it will create and audio track of the VST, saving you CPU cycles. Click the large snowflake and it physically removes the entire VST from memory and replaces with an audio track. If you need to edit the VST again, simply click the snowflake and it loads it back in - everything as it was.

In a test last night, I loaded 6 instances of Korg Legacy Collection playing quite complex patterns which pushed my CPU up to 70-80%. After clicking the snowflakes it was reduced to... 1%!!! This proggy rules :D Can't wait to see what it does with EWQLSO

Apparently this sort of technology already exists in Cubase & Logic, but not to the extent of physically removing the VST from memory. I thoroughly recommend anyone with a CPU deficiency (everyone, then?) to give this a go. 30 day trial on the demo version :)

I would probably kill to get one of these. I've been trying for years to find a Speak and Spell unit localy. I refuse to pay the insane amounts asked for on Ebay.

more memory will help things like EWQLSO since you can load more into ram and rely less on the drive.

BTW, I currently have a 2.5gP4 with 1.75g ram, and EWQLSO on two raptor drives. I can get a reasonable amount of stuff going, but no-where near what I really want.
