I think we can both co-exist: we just remember that the vast majority of contributors to the board are remixers and other creative types. The more general fans tend to congregate on the C64 messageboards discussing the nostalgia in general rather than just getting hung up on the music (but also discussing the music from time to time). Lemon64.com is the best one I know.

My POV:
As a "user" I hope for fairly close to the original remixes (that is: recognizable) but I also like to be surprised by an unusual approach. This is counts for more SIDdish remixes and for those without SID-sounds and all between. That also counts for a parody if it's a good one. Imho we got one here.

The Remix64 audience is a huge kettle full of different people and the tone on the board is pretty good (docile? ;-)).
No stupid flame wars, just a lil disagreement (positivly called diversity?) here & there but nothing to complain about. It's simply amazing. :)

Now, gents, go for yer guns!

What's all the discussion about...?

This is the C64 Mafia we know exactly what we get from them, well made humorous remixes.

It does what it says on the tin.

Speaking of tins, I do seem to have opened a major can of worms by letting this tune online.

Sadly I don't have the time to ponder the matter now as I'm off on a weekend trip to the Swedish outback in about 10 minutes. Hopefully I'll find some time on monday.

I don't get it. It's (still) not on rko, but on mbdrecords webspace.

Basically I have to say to this: it's no good to try and push a remixer into making a certain kind of remix. Both, full covers and creative attempts are important for the diversity of the scene's releases. We had this discussion before, and before that, and it's always been somewhat pointless.

Well on the other hand, having controverse feedback to a tune is far better than recieving none at all, and it should somewhat be expected by releases of The Mafia®.

Peace!

Whoops! As Dan pointed out it's still in the queue and not online for public leeching from RKO. Since I've had it on my harddrive for ages I must have assumed that I had already okayed it. Sorry about that.
