thanks Tas :D

maybe i'll do some finetuning before uploading it to rko ... must still hear it a few 100 times...

i started to do this song several times over the last years but never get pleased with it.
if anyone is interested in these tests...

1. Ice Age Test 1995
sequenced with (don't laugh) octamed pro V4 on amiga1200 ...
... via midi to my kawai gmega and alesis d4.

2. Ice Age Test 1998
the same method as above + an quasimidi quasar.

... ok, laugh ...

60 downloads in about 12 hours ... but only two comments ... i'm depressed.

"cum on" ... comments and critics, please.

just downloaded it and now listen to it.
starts like a JMJ piece and gets something that reminds me of good old mods.
very solid and straight remix, i like it :D

got to download the other versions and listen to what you have done over and over again ;)

ok, here we go :
ia95 : a bit flat instruments compared to the "final" version, not bad though.
ia98 : uhm, with some twists, otherwise much like what i said about ia95. bit more disco. 711-iceage-remix is still my favorite version here.

warning : comments based on almost absent knowledge of music.

...and that "60 times downloaded and just 2 comments" is just the common case of "i must scream but have no mouth" (or brain?) ;)
well, i guess most people just don't love nor abhor it, so they just keep shut.

well done, real nice remix.... very smooth leadsound, very sid'ish...
the only weak point is the sequencerline which sounds sometimes out of sync...

keep'em coming !!!

Iceage subtune 1 & 3 are two of my all time favourite sids.
Because of that, i'm really happy someone remixed it :D
(I think it was only remixed once - by Oedipus).

But there's a problem if you really love every piece of the original sid and the remix uses other notes at some points (at 1:09, 1:16). Even if that's meant to be your personal interpretation of the theme it sounds wrong in my ears. The same goes for the 2nd part starting at 1:47. :?

I mean it's really not bad, i just can't say it's perfect...
The chosen instruments are very good i think, so it easily could have been one of my favourite remixes... 8)

Btw.: I heard it first in the beastie-boys crack-intro for the game "Crillion".

Cheers,
Monty

P.S.: Subtune 3 awaits your treatment

@vosla
i think i delete those old ones from the server ... they have nothing to do with the new one. :)

thanks,
this "sequencerline-thing" is intention - sounds more groovy and not so totally straight. its a doubled note ... what you hear is done by the reverb.

@monty
i dont want to look into the code of the sid to see the right notes. it is a "very original" remix but done by listening ... and i think that playing things a bit different sometimes, makes it more interesting to do.
