A question of midi

So ive finally got the house done out, office done and keyboard setup - but ive bumped into a real stumble block.

I have an audigy soundcard, theres no joystick port on it to plug the midi interface into.... however, there is one on the motherboard, the onboard sound and midi is disabled for obvious reason and theres no response from the device - any ideas ???

Why don't you just enable the on-board sound card? You can have two sound cards running at the same time -- I do it myself for the radio show!

Then you'll have the onboard MIDI controller. Just keep your default playback/recording devices pointing at your Audigy and you should be okee dokee.

HTH!

No midi/game-port? My Audigy came with a separate midi-port, that you had to plug in on the soundcard and then fit it to one of the slots in the back for easy accesse.

Sure wasn't more in the box? Or maybe you misplaced it? Either way, I'm sure you can get a new one if it's lost.

buy a usb-midi adapter for the best performance... :D costs 'bout 50 €...

...and please don't use the on-board sound, it's crap and have a lot of
timing problems with most of the sequencers out there and they got
poor asio and directX drivers.... :x

btw. which audigy do you have ??? i can't believe that there is no midi
interface... did you got a breakoutbox ????

cheers ifadeo

Onboard, hmm i may have no option really... i could go USB, but i only have 2 ports and about 10 USB items... i do have a 4 port expansion card, but its buggy as hell and causes loads of problems.

You should use the onboard sound for the system sounds, the Audigy for recording.

You can buy the missed cables for some pounds here:
