hi there everybody :)

here are some hotels in Manchester though a little further away (roughly four miles from venue) probably cheaper going by bus from these hotels where you can get the 82 or 83 buses on oldham street in manchester and gettin off at the stop just before Broadway (A663) and cross over the road. Go down Poplar Street (you'll see Morrisons on your left) to the bottom and turn left into Propps Hall Drive, then first right into Greaves Avenue where the venue is :)

Why on earth would you need to get off at Failsworth Pole when the bus drops you pretty close to the venue?

Simply get off at the stop just before Broadway (A663) and cross over the road. Go down Poplar Street (you'll see Morrisons on your left) to the bottom and turn left into Propps Hall Drive, then first right into Greaves Avenue where the venue is. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Plus getting off there means you can get the 82, 83, 180, 181, 182, 183, 184 buses.

If anyone wants to meet up with me in Manchester on Saturday and be guided to the venue by bus, I'm quite happy to.

As Waz seems to be the fountain of bus knowledge...

I'm staying at the Travelodge Oldham (on the Broadway) and arriving at Manchester Piccadilly train station. So what do I need to:

a) get to my hotel from the train station
b) get to the venue from my hotel

:)

Yeah, the clock's ticking, Waz! :D

There's a Bendy Bully in it for you if you get it within the hour.

From Manchester Piccadilly train station, head towards the exit marked City Link bus, which will take you through the old station entrance. Walk down the hill and keep going down this road (Piccadilly) until you see Lever Street on your right.

At Lever Street, walk up to bus stand F and take the buses 24, 181 or 182. These take you up Oldham Road, past the stop you get off for the venue, then you turn left down Broadway straight to the hotel (it's just after the junction with the M60 motorway).

Getting to the venue from the hotel results in the same buses there:

The 24 bus runs every 15 minutes during the day
The 181 bus runs every hour during the day
The 182 bus runs every hour during the day

Going back from the Oldham Road/Broadway stop back to the hotel, the last buses are as follows:

182 - 23:03
24 - 23:33

Incidentally, what time are you due in Manchester?

Just to add one other thing to what waz has put above.
You can always get a taxi from the train station :)
Two ways of doing this, walk outside and get a black cab, cost to your hotel will be around £12 and will take about 10 minutes.
Other taxi option is to ring 0161 682 5544 this is the local taxi firm in Failsworth.
Just tell them where you are "outside piccadilly" and they will be there within 10 minutes, cost will be around £8 to your hotel :D
From your hotel to the venue in a taxi will cost about £3 and take about 5 minutes.
Hope this help's :)

Cheers for the info :)

If I recall, about 3pm on the Friday. Have to check my train tickets. The event starts too early on the Saturday for me to get up there in time for opening (total travel time for me will be easily over 3 hours!) so coming along Friday instead. And a curry if we all go for one at some point.

@Danceaway - taxis are the last resort, was looking for the cheapest alternative ;)

Having said that, I might use one to get back to the hotel from the venue on the Saturday...

Mat, staying in the same hotel with my brother... could share a taxi or give you a lift to/from the venue depending on whether he's drinking?

(Definitely getting a taxi Sunday night, as my brother has to leave early...)

We should be at the Travelodge Oldham about mid afternoon-ish on Friday/

What's the plan for a meet-up or something? Does anyone know if something has been (impromptu) arranged?

I have no idea to be honest... was planning on going down to the venue to say hi but if people are gonna be setting up or not there at the time...

@Merman - sounds like a plan then at the end of Saturday.

Ah, sorry, getting my hotels mixed up. I'm in the Premier Travel Inn, not the Travelodge.

(Too much to catch up. Damn holiday)
