Subtune 2 - Skitz previewed it on SlayRadio a few months ago, it hasnt changed much since then.

My own opinion is that its not one of my better works - but if it gets thru you can all decide :)

Hey thanks for the comments :)

There seems to be a fair bit of discussion aboot the sound quality/mastering of the track, so I've created an alternate version mastered completely differently.

If you want to check it out its here:

Mebbe you wont notice a difference, who knows :)

PS:

No, unfortunately I will not be able to attend BITlite :( Tho I'd really like to have gone and met everyone again.

Ah well. Hopefully there will be something else sometime.

Love the original, and really like your version. I'm just doing an AB of the 2 versions now so I'll add some mix specifics (If anything comes to mind) as they go.
My impressions of the first version are a great arrangement but I would have loved to hear the chorus 'vocal' pad brough up more (ITs one of those parts that made me stop what I was doing and beg for more of) and overall a little more warmth to the track. The use of authentic sounding patches to the original sounds is good but they are a little harsh and 'lonely' imho, mainly on the leads.
2nd version is cleaner straight off (the hiss from the 1st is gone). Bit more oomph now too. Maybe Im imagining it but the chorus and pads do sound more prominent, obviously from what I've said so far good thing imho. About the only thing I might do is double the original (Left)chorus lead up with a thicker Virus pad (if you have Atmosphere it's Virus swell and green violin is what I have in mind).
Bored/pissed off yet? ;) Sorry just love this one so much I had to babble about the only (minor) things I would do differently. Bopping away with version 2 on loop now. Superb work, many thanks for this.

lol, not bored, very grateful for the comments.

Tune piece as it stands is how it will be now, dont really want to go back to it :)

A couple of bits of info for you tho :

The main lead (on the left) is actually the original C64 lead lifted straight from the original, I really wanted it in there.

..and two :) - the vocal pad you speak of.. is actually me with a microphone.. the reason for its low volume is due to my nervousness of my voice holding the pitch at such a high octave!
