David Dunn Interview

I'd just like to say a big thumbs up to the man Chris for doing an excellent interview with the C64 musician David Dunn.

So much of David's work is (well at least in my view anyway) under-rated, and it's brilliant to know too that he did indeed compose the notorious music for the game Chiller.

In fact it's also interesting to see how differently he approached C64 composing from the others as well in the fact he was classically trained and used that approach more than say those who'd be programmers and make their own routine and tweak it constantly.

So, thumbs up to Chris, and to David for taking the time out!

I'd agree... very informative.

Unsurprisingly, I'm curious as to why David's so annoyed with Martin Galway... if it's simply a case that MG speed-up a composition... seems a little harsh to be annoyed after so many years.

Just my thoughts...

David Dunn was a "Musician", Martin Galway was a "computer musician/sonic engineer".

That's two different worlds, and two different approaches to musical quality, even though the two were supposedly doing the same thing, they did it very differently.

lol! Though I'm on record as loving David's stuff: it's a big part of my mental landscape. As is Martin's. I'm lucky I don't have to choose :)

Now, off to bed!

Great interview - very informative :D

What a shame that he comes across as a completely pompous ASS!

Gotta love the guys choonz though, and I guess his parting comment did go some way to redeeming himself...
