Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Hamster. You'd not want Clarkson and James to get lonely...

Yuh.. my wife called me at 07:00 this morning (she has an early shift)..

We'll be sending him a 'get well soon' post-card.. something with Chicks and Cars..

A card to:

Patient: Richard Hammond
Leeds General Infirmary
Great George Street,
Leeds,
West Yorkshire,
LS1 3EX.

Do you think that will get there ?

Course it will :)

On the upside, when he recovers and gets out, how cool will his cool factor be? If you're going to put yourself in hospital you might as well do it in a jet powered car going at over 300MPH... if he gets through this, he's set for life. And good luck to him :) I love his enthusiasm and the joy he takes in his work.

from the BBC website:

A Leeds General Infirmary spokesman said: "Doctors say Richard Hammond is making satisfactory progress. "

"This morning he has been moved from intensive care on to a high dependency unit. "

"His condition has been downgraded from 'serious but stable' to 'stable'."

He's a cool presenter... One of the guys from pistonheads.com set up a donations page for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance which picked up the hamster.

Indeed. Those fuckers run to about £4,500 a flight, do give and give frequently to your local air ambulance. Mate of mine saw one land in the middle of Leicester Square, neatly threading his rotors through the cables and signs to dust-off some poor unfortunate who'd met a bus the wrong way.

They have infinite courage, and fuck-all funding - do, please, give to your local air ambulance as a priority. You will be directly saving lives with every donation.

And, of course, my best wishes to the Hamster. Wiping out in a 300-MPH jet car? That's bitchin'.

My hopes goes to Hammond for a speedy recovery - and for some bragging in the next season of Brainiac! :D
