Isn't it funny how the same piece of music can be understood so differently by two people..

Can somebody explain measurements to me
I must admit that I thought Razmo was switching between 3/4 and 4/4 during the remix. During the Terra Cresta bit I count 6 beats per measure and during "his" original bit it switches to 8 beats.... am I wrong?
This is one thing I wish I understood..... 3/3, 3/4, 4/4, 4/3, 6/6! - it's all foreign to me

4/4 is considered "Common time", 4 crotchet beats to the bar (count 1,2,3,4). 3/4 or "waltz" time has three crotchets to the bar (count 1,2,3).skitz wrote:Can somebody explain measurements to me

Other familiar ones are 6/8 (6 quavers to the bar - count 1,2,3,4,5,6) and 12/8 (12 quavers to the bar - are you getting the idea now?)
Of course it's not always that simple - there's a piece by Sting that's in an unusual time signature 21/16 and then it changes to 23/16... try counting that in your head

Well, I totally love this remix of the tune and being a non-muso didn't spot (or particularly care about) any thingy-wotsit changes within the track (whatever this hoo-hah is about).
Have you guys heard the version by Jogier Liljedahl* on Bit2? It's much slower than the Galway original but I feel this gives it a much more epic feel. My initial reaction to that wasn't "oh no, it's slower than the C64 version!!" - more like "f'kinell this is a bloody amazing remix!"
But hey, life would be pretty boring if we all liked the same stuff, eh?
* What ever happened to Jogier anyway?
