Hey dude, hope you and everyone are well. I have a question regarding the hiring of the Brighton Centre. Our band are looking to hire the east wing for a possible Christmas gig and want to know, if when 'Press Play On Tape' played, they had to use their own P.A or the Brighton Centre had their own to use? If so, did this cost extra to hire, on top of the hall?
hope that makes some sense, if you know anything about costs etc I would be greatful for the information.
Thanks, Mike

We needed to hire PA.
The centre cost £1500 to hire, including VAT, plus extras such as ticket printing. The PA and lighting cost us another £1500: Brighton Centre provided the actual stage you stood on, but the lighting also had to be done by the PA guys. They were very good: Skitz will give you their details if you like. Some of that was accounted for by the screen that PPOT needed, so you would probably be nearer to £1000 inc VAT, probably. Maybe less.
In addition, we had to pay £50 for the backline, which wasn't part of the PA thing.

You are crazy! (in a good sense )Chris Abbott wrote:> Did you even clear debt let alone make a bit besides !!!
Nah, about £3000 down on the event. Good for the scene tho'.

What about raising the price for the tickets? (ducks)
Personally I wouldn't mind paying 20/25. Especially at *that* location in London.
Just another one of my stoopid ideas maybe
Ta!

Actually, the ticket prices will have to be at that level even to break even. It's not just the venue hire, but tech hire, airfares and hotels, rehearsal studios, equipment hire, PA, and miscellaneous. That's about £6000. That means you've got to charge at least £20 for the tickets, and even then you've GOT to have 300 people turning up. Gonna have to have some "luxury" tickets available near the front to help out with the situation. I've undercharged on every BIT Live so far, so I have to start getting realistic.
