With the current squad, another season of struggle definitely.

A new manager is needed plus, IMHO, an ex-Premiership defender to install a bit of composure in the defence. Someone in their early 30s, been there, done that who can try to make sure the defence is tighter and better organised - John McDermott is a good, hardworking defender but no experience at the highest level. He runs his heart out for the team and is one of a few that is worthy of playing for Town but he's getting slower with age (approaching 36 now) and someone more younger with Premiership experience is urgently required in my view.

Grimsby were renowned for their excellent passing game and solid defence under Alan Buckley but it's descended into a 'hit 'n' hope' approach from Nicky Law and a non-existent defence.

Changes are going to be made over the summer apparently. Nicky Law looks certain to be replaced thankfully as he's not very popular within the team generally - he allegedly took an instant dislike to some key players. The board are apparently not happy about this but officially Nicky is still in charge till they decide what to do.

I will be watching Town again next season so I'm either:

A) A masochist

B) Very optimistic

C) A & B :)

mmmm, This might be of interest to you paul...

Rovers are about to break the transfer record by signing 2 players. The bids are for a striker and a midfielder. £110,000 for Gavin Williams from Yeovil has already been brought out into the open aswell as James Coppinger... However we are also on the verge of signing a young striker and the rumor is he's from Grimsby

Doesn't mean he plays for them though, he's probably the owner of a Grimsby chip shop or summat*

@ Tas:
The phrase "it's never stopped you before" springs to mind. :lol:

Could be Darren Mansaram going to Donny. He's the most likely only on the fact he is Doncaster-born. Jonathan Rowan and David Soames are possibles too but there's no indication yet as to exactly who it could be.

@ Chris:
Running a chippy is, fortunately, something that Grimsby (& Cleethorpes) do get right and they do it well. :) Arguably, the best fish & chips in the country - Cleethorpes seafront chippies do the best fish & chips out of what's local, IMHO. Well worth checking out for anyone in the area. :)

Mansaram's nickname is Flash so you get the idea where his talent lies.

His skill, however, left a lot to be desired this season. He's young and still learning but maybe a change of scenery will be all he needs to start producing something good now. Playing for his home town club could be enough for him.

<Frankie Howerd>

Well, nymphomaniacs are a bit difficult to find in Grimsby.....

</Frankie Howerd>

Yes Dan, the sausage is good. Not keen on the crispy batter though so I have my sausage without it....

Hmm. Taking a wild stab that there's probably another Frankie Howerd gag in that last paragraph, the Ministry for Stating The Bleeding Obvious will not be making any further appearances in this post. :)

:shock:

Bloody hope it's not Jevons. He's our best player!

Btw, Hockless isn't "hopeless". He's a popular and decent player - just couldn't resist the gag. :)

Jevons has finally gone...to Yeovil. :(

I'm just a tad annoyed but the new boss seems to be making a few positive changes. Gut feeling is he is good for the club to bounce back.

Still, the sale of Jevons....(to nick one of Chris' gags here)

The bright side to this is Law isn't there any more. :)
