BIT Live 2004 confirmed

Post by Chris Abbott »

Ok, here's the skinny:

Date: 11th September, 2004
Place: LSO St. Luke's, Old Street, London
Time: concert starts 6pm (may be subject to change). Ends 10pm (possible later, depending on ticket sales or sponsorship).
Ticket price: £25 (sorry for the increase, but it's the only way I can make this one work financially and break even: sponsorship is still possible but the people concerned are being very vague indeed and I'm not sure anything will be forthcoming: if it is, then we'll add an extra hour to the concert).

Acts:
Press Play on Tape (with Rob Hubbard and Mark Knight for MOTR)
C64Mafia
Natasha Samsudin-Mackenzie (feat. Iridium)
Visa Roster
Stuck in D'80s (with guest star, Rob Hubbard and mysterious guest monks)
and
Octave Sounds (performing during the interval)

Designated pissup bar: Zoobar, Soho (artists pissup Thursday evening, general pissup Friday evening, auxiliary pissup Saturday evening).

Andy, you can use this information for the poster (finally)

Tickets will be on sale in the next couple of weeks, but we've got to finalise some ticket arrangements with the Barbican: they will be named seats on a first come-first served basis, filling from the front, stalls first then balcony. The venue is large enough to impress, but small enough so that everybody gets a good view. And the screen behind the stage is HUGE :) The front row will be reserved for performers to sit while they're not performing.

Did I forget anything? Oh yeah, this concert will be recorded for DVD and combined with Brighton footage to create the ultimate BIT Live DVD for launch in June next year.

Chris

ok everything sounds fine 2 me except designated seating, nothing worse than ending up 300 seats away from someone you have been talking to all day.. and next to a furry giant yeti type creature instead..

by the sounds of it the place is big enough for everyone to get a random seat.. and if you just cut away the 1st 2 rows things im sure would be just fine.... not wanting to complain but that does bother me a bit.. my girlfriend "might" be coming and will be buying her ticket if and when she's sure she can so it will by the sounds of it be a definete you'd expect us to sit apart.. which wont happen... i'll get all quasimodo on ya'll lol.

anyway just wanted to air a greivence and give you my honest opinion sorry if it offends or causes a problem.. but i do feel not being able to pick your own seat is a lil silly.

Well, look at the flip side, if you bought your ticket early but got in only at the back... I dunno. Thoughts, everybody?

Thoughts?

Hmm, designated seating would save the queues outside.. but, ppl wouldnt be able to stay in groups, like the MD guys did at our table last year... every1 would be split up for the evening.

Actually, I favour a sort of "mixed" approach. Have the VIP area at the front for those willing to stump up a bit more cash for a ticket. Then have designated sections with a number of seats each. Sorted.

to be perfectly honest with ya chris.. and brown tonguing to the maximum ;-) id sit outside and still pay for my ticket aslong as i got to be at this bit event.. loved the last one so much even death himself will have a problem keeping me away! <grrr's@death.. again>.

i like mer's idea.. the v.i.p crew could be near the front to worry the "stars" hehe... i promise to stroke the back of marcel's head to keep him calm at all times... lol.

Yeah - a few hitches immediatly following the official announcement from Chris...Well, it was to be expected - as least we're discussing it the 'democratic' way. I voted non pre-booked seats.
Really for me part of the whole concert enjoyment is being next to (or on the same table) as your mates. If you all turn up together I see that could be the only way to guarantee this.
The pub does sound a bit dodgy too, but again, let's hope we can clear this up and find somewhere that sounds a bit better.

Anyway - apart from these minor concerns I'm really looking forward to it. Price increase is no problem as I'd hate to see anyone out of pocket when you think of the effort put into this event.

Hmm, shame I wont be able to make it to this one. BIT live brighton was awesome, one of the highlights of my year but its worked out this event will cost upwards of £150 which unfortunatly isnt going to justify a 4 hour concert.
Last year, my friend and I had a great time, met some great people and saw an amazing concert by some very brilliant composers/performers.
Oh yeah, got unmistakeably hammered with Fred Grey and his lovely daughter as well.
Im just wondering why there isnt any kind of afternoon activities this year?
The memory of kicking my friends ass at hypersports while any onlookers from behind probably thought we were jerking one off, is gold!
Surely with no afternoon event, there will be no real mingling for those that cannot make the pub activites the night before. Meeting new people and socialising last year was one of the highlights of the day.
Dont get me wrong, I know the concert will still be great but without the extras of last year it wont justify my money, which is a shame.

The look on Mr Fishers face when I asked him to sign me was also classic.

Well, do you really need a day event to mingle???

We didn't stay long at the day event because really it wasn't our thing, but there was loads of us in a nearby Walkabout pub socialising, and we'll be doing the same this year.

There was, Me, Makke, Slaygon, Schneider, Kwed, Tomsk, Dan G, Max Levin, Glyn R brown, Infamous, Larsec and other popper in and outers. We had a really good time, and got to know many people really well.

This year we're going down on the friday and should arrive in the afternoon, and we'll be doing more of the same this year. We had a tremendous day last year, and will certainly be emulating it again this year and i know with a few more newbies :)

I think you'll find that Midday is technically the afternoon ;)
