Holland 1 - Portugal 2

Post by DaveT »

I don't like this kind of games... where the players don't have room to play nice football. But we won, not as intense and cool as England but it works.
Next team...Chzec Republic.

The right result, for sure. At least Portugal went looking for goals all the time, and had a better striker been on instead of Pauleta, the game would have been wrapped up ages ago. Superb strike from Maniche though which the Portugese TV cameras virtually managed to miss :(

Must admit there'll be quite a few of us in the UK glad that Holland went out if only to see Ruud van Cheatelrooy dumped out of the competition. Ha, Scummer! ;)

Yeah, indeed. Horrible timing. (err, not the goal, obviously, which was ACE!)

Yeah, he couldn't make the difference, (only against Latvia  )

Portugal played well, Holland was horrible. (they didn't even score!)

But I have to say that I wasn't pleased with Frisk, what a home ref! (normally he's spot on)

England did better against Portugal. Shame they are out.

Well, at least we'll have an excellent final. (Portugal vs the Czechs)
50/50 me thinks.

Ta!

Actually, I think Frisk had a good game, with only one or two desicions I would question. He did try to let the game flow by not stopping for silly little niggles, but let himself down on one call when Holland had good possession.

It's good to see attacking football rewarded, and cheats dumped out of the tournament...

Yes, Rob, I was referring to the Dutch as cheats. As proved by Robben's yellow card for "simulation" and van Nistelrooj's vain attempts to get a penalty.

Yes of course. (you saw my 'winky, winky' I hope? )
Hey, don't get so serious. I'm with you, no really. :D
Please do understand that I'm not one of those 'fans' with orange glasses. 8)

Hey, Holland lost, and deservedly so! OOh, and I hate cheats, just as well when they're Dutch. Robben and Van Nistelcheat are hopeless. (at least yesterday) Although I do understand their frustration, especially when Van Nistelcheat had a defender hanging round his waiste for half the tournament. 8) )

The only thing I wanted to say was that Frisk always gave advantage to Portugal on 50/50 occasions. I expected more from him, because he's a top ref.

No problemo, Merman. :D

OK, no hard feelings Robman.

(And I think it would be bad for the tournament if Nedved was banned from the final, but that's just my opinion)

Mm, I agree, football-wise.

But he's a total hypocrite asking the UEFA to 'forget' his yellow card, because it was a schwalbe from Gronkjaer.
Nedved almost invented the Schwalbe himself.
(Heitinga from Holland saw red, because of one of Nedved's schwalbes, even this tournament!)

So far the mixed feelings about Nedved.
Apart from that excellent player!

Ta Merman!
