Remark Music by Jeroen Tel
Remark Music by Jeroen Tel
I got this remix rejected on R:K:O. I'm not sure why - maybe Jan got turned off by the initial cliché house-esque filter sweep.
Anyway, I've had others give me good response on this track, including Jeroen himself, so I thought I'd share it with you.
It's a house-style take on Tel_Jeroen/Remark_Music.sid which pays homage to the original. It can be downloaded here: http://home20.inet.tele.dk/plams/remarkmusic.html (audio format is ogg vorbis)
Here are my other R:K:O tracks: http://remix.kwed.org/index.php?search=plasm

Oh, heh - the information I omitted was that I submitted this track prior to the introduction of zero-tolerance policy. And if I recall correctly, I talked to Jan himself and found out that you only get a reason for rejection if you for some reason didn't follow the instructions correctly. If Jan finds the song unfit for R:K:O he can reject it without reason, even though I made no mistake in the forms.
So, it's an old remix that has been lying around for a while. I just got interested in the C64 remix scene again today, so I thought I'd share it with you guys.

gillgrass - you mean you've got this remix on your HD? That boggles my mind - unless I'm suffering from amnesia, this is the first exposure of the remix, except for a few friends.
Hazel - thanks a lot. I never heard Remark Music on a real C64.. I just found it years later in the HVSC, and immediately thought it had a lot of dance music potential. The bassline really kicks

It sounds like SID + drums + shadowed melody tracks (i.e. played over the top of the SID with different instruments): and apart from the rhythm, there are no melodic tracks which weren't in the SID.
I'm not saying that's why it was rejected, but that sounds the case to me.
Quality example of the genre though.
