UK Hardcore

Post by Xelebes »

Well, I'm on my way to completing 3D Galaxy theme tune for the ST, and I'm only being worked up. Any suggestions for c64 music that would sound good transmorphed into UK Hardcore?

It's like ordinary hardcore, but more sceptical towards a European Superstate ;-)

UK Hardcore Recipe:

1) Take an old classic track and change the pitch to be 140BPM
2) Add a distorted Kick drum (4 per bar)
3) Add an open hihat offbeat to get the UNZ effect
4) Add a sub-bass offbeat to follow the original tracks bassline
5) Add some silly sfx at the appropriate point
6) Add a guy talking shit over the top of it
7) Compress it to hell!

There ya go..

Actually I find that the tempo usually hovers around 150 to 180 bpm. 140 bpm sounds like normal hard house or trance, maybe hardstyle and breaks. And the way you described it, there's a whole swath of other genres that go by that method. But I don't make myt tracks that way.

i think by uk hardcore he was referring more towards the prodigy's earlier stuff or maybe acen or maybe mickey finn, suburban base, moving shadow's (Very early stuff -dj krome etc)... basically "oldskool" as we call it over here.

would i be more or less correct?

No, that's still old skool over here too. Basically, UK Hardcore is essentially the less sugary version of Happy Hardcore, or what basically happy hardcore degraded too, mixing further elements of trancecore and freeform.

So yeah, anything in that area, lol. Whatever, name a tune that would fit hardcore. Me being too picky here is not working here cuz I look like a fool if I do.
