Hi folks,

I just want to turn this forum the other way round:
I going to do a remix in the future with vocals of a friend who's
singing in some kind of "scandinavian rock'n'roll"-band.
And I like to know from you: wich SID-classic can u imagine
done in this style (of singing and music with lots of guitars as usual )

Makke did a nice job on singing along with Warhawk. That's hard competition.

Ace II rocks, a cover-version would remind me of a jingle for an eighties soap opera (nothing special in mind here).
Though it has plenty of space for a vocal act.

Game Over rocks, too. I guess it's hard stuff to sing along. Have a try.

How about Knucklebuster for a slow remix with hard & furious parts. Again hard to place a human voice in it. Something like Nick Cave - "Red Right Hand" (slow but hard dominant rythm). Creepy...

yeah, knucklebuster as gothic / alternative track like NIN, Sisters of Mercy or Tiamat..... hmm, maybe a i do a cover by myself....

It has a rocksong structure, making it a lot easier (in comparison to, for example, monty on the run) to write lyrics for or singing over it.

For me personally, it doesn't make sense to remix a sid-tune I didn't fall in love with back in the days (that's the retro-factor).
I'd rather go composing by myself.
And I don't really mind if the tune is done 10 times before - IMO death comes with 10 poor, not 10 high quality remixes.

Romeo Knight, it is only my suggestion, which you asked for .-)

Future Freak's tunes are... it's up to you, that means you have to listen.
But they are rock in the first place, so they always could be used for guitar+drums.

I can understand if you/anyone want to stick to what he knows in his heart.

But there is new stuff, and you will get stuck in the past if you stick to such a principle hardnecked.

Think of my suggestion as a new input, not as an old tune you don't know.

One remixes what he feel to remix, mostly tunes one loved.

There are other gems in hvsc, that's true, but those gems don't belong to our youth or particular moments in our lives.

Maybe the scene needs another fresh generation of remixers, for this reason, and maybe to replace people who don't get any more satisfaction in remixing c64.

While that's true, what's to stop you falling in love with a tune that you may not have heard back then or even now? There's plenty of good composers out there still doing C64 tunes that deserve attention, everyone's ears, and a good remix.

If you haven't done so already, check out http://users.dhp.com/~shark/BOV - that's a good start.

Having said that, I am intrigued what you've chosen to do. If it is Skate or Die, please please do a good job of it, or else! :)

Well, that's exactly the point! Why should I remix (now being sarcastic) a more or less unknown average tootling computertune, when I'm able to create my own compositions?
I clearly understand your point, too, but in the end that's everyones own decision. In my case, I'll only remix tunes I have some kind of emotional relationship to, whatever may be the reason. That's why H-Blockx cover Jonny Cash, Iron Maiden cover Led Zeppelin, Tears for Fears cover Cat Stevens and Michael Andrews Tears for Fears... (list going on endless )
Let's see what the future brings us...
