Typical of slash-dot...

Post by SIR'86 »

After refusing to post a story about BIT 2004, slash dot have now put up a story about a remix album of Donkey Kong Country SNES tunes.

If they covered that, why not BIT 2004? :x

Someone in the discussion asked about rights and royalties, so I posted about BIT 2004, and the good work that Chris as C64Audio is doing in keeping the C64 remix scene going, whilst ensuring the original composers get royalties.

Ironically enough, I had a cameo appearence on "Kong in Concert", the Donkey Kong Country remix album that got Slashdotted. Honestly though, we submitted thinking it would never get selected and they did anyway, so it's really a coinflip. Basically though, a bunch of geeks there with no formal legal background just turned it into a discussion about copyrights and so forth, without talking enough about the album. Sucks that BIT Live 2004 didn't get Slashdotted though; that was certainly an important event as well, and I enjoyed checking out some of the live feed.
