Jesper Kyd (a name that should ring a bell for any old Amiga sceners on here) did the music for one of them. I think it was the first.
It was a cool game, but a tad repetative imo. Great music though!

Yeah, the Quake soundtrack over all was pretty good. Though I actually prefer the Quake 2 soundtrack. Probably because that soundtrack was less...well...soundtracky and more "real tunes" oriented.
If you like orchestral soundtracks, then the one from "Outcast" (an awesome voxelgame, "ages" back in 1999) was/is a MUST! Great compostions from pro Lennie Moore, performed by the Moscow Symphonic Orchestra & Choir, perfect fitting into the different gamesituations. Nice story & game too... EDIT: The full soundtrack can be freely d/l as mp3 (but only 96kbps) from the infogrames-server via http://www.outcast-thegame.com (gallery/audio).

The Silent Hill series by Akira Yamaoka. I think it's more atmospherics than music, but there's still some great guitar tunes. Angels Thanatos for the second game springs to mind.

depends on your view point
some of the SINGING on Silent hill 4 is just wonderful
True, true. Room Of Angel is an awesome piece of music... But it can't hold a candle to the Silent Hill 1 theme. I've got the SH1 soundtrack and it never fails to make me jump when I've got the earphones on. Quite a cathartic experience.
I used to love the Tomb Raider theme. I thought it sounded so filmic and beautiful, but when I loaded it up again for the first time in about four years, I think it sounds pretty crude. And the game was boring crap too.
