Since noone else mentioned it:

comp.sys.cbm newsgroup posting:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/com ... lr=&rnum=1
(more information in the rest of the thread)

Story about Jeri and the 64DTV in the New York Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/20/techn ... ssuserland

Pictures of a 64DTV modified to hook up to external devices:

(Yes, that's the actual device in the last picture)

As soon as a PAL version emerges I'm *so* there. :D

Why wait, it works fine if your tv can show NTSC signals, and most og the newer models can....

Any one know what games it holds?

Epyx and Hewson games, including both Cybernoids, World Karate Championship (AKA: International Karate), Uridium, Paradroid, some events from the "games" series, and other Epyx and Hewson stuff.

They still owe money to Rob and Ben for IK and Firelord: let's hope they pay in the New Year.

Bull Riding, Championship Wrestling, Cyberdyne Warrior, Cybernoid, Cybernoid 2, Eliminator, Exolon, Firelord, Flying Disk, Gateway to Apshai, Impossible Mission, Impossible Mission 2, Jumpman Jr., Paradroid, Pitstop, Pitstop 2, Rana Rama, Silicon Warrior, Speedball, Summer Games, Super Cycle, Sumo, Surfing, Sword of Fargoal, Tower Toppler (methinks that's what the US release of Nebulus was called - if so, kickass game), Uridium, Winter Games, World Karate Champion A, World Karate Champion B, Zynaps.

I'd get one just for Paradroid.

Only thing I'm a tad worried about is that the games are NTSC-fixed when everyone knows the PAL scene rocked more. =)

Can you connect another joystick from the c64 to this thing so you can play two player or more?

It's not fun to play like summer games in one player...

Nope - no simultaneous two-player games.

Nice one... Absolutely a nice little "gadget" to own!! But it would be even better if they could include the complete selection of games in something similar!! :) I mean, it must be possible to do so... Like some kind of little box .. Now that would be the perfect gift... ;)

Alternatively, chip your Xbox and stick ViceX on the hard drive.

There is a page online that shows you how to mod an Xbox controller so you can plug in an Atari-style stick (such as a Comp Pro)*; I don't really have the soldering powers to deal with that, though. Keyboard access, as with most console-based emulators, is simple enough via an on-screen keyboard.

ViceX is rather good actually, as is the whole chipped Xbox thing. It's virtually made my Mac and PC redundant as far as emulation goes (the only other platform I currently use emulators on is the GBA, mostly for old Game Boy games, so I don't have to bother mucking about with those bloody great big carts). I now have a box in the living room, hooked up to the TV, which has on it a C64, a Spectrum, an Amiga, a SNES, a shed-load of arcade games, a NES, and the rather fabby OutRun 2**. And all for about 200 quid... Nice!

** If you have an Xbox and don't own a copy of this, you really are a wombat, especially seeing as it's available in various places for the equivalent of about 20 quid now! Man, if only all games were FUN like this one!
