This is a small dispute between a collegue and I
Was there really such a thing (that maybe didn't make it to Europe) as a Commodore cartridge version of Space Invaders sent on the market in 1982???
Possible screenshot found at: http://www.c64gg.com/s27.html
To me the font is wrong, changing the font was not one of those things you had in games from 1982...

Commodore had a habit of releasing unlicenced arcade conversions on cartridge under different names back in the day. I remember seing a screenshot of Jelly Monsters for the VIC-20 and thinking "That's Pacman!"merman wrote:As Craig pointed out, it's actually AVENGER (or Avengers). It was originally developed for the Commodore Max. Not a bad game, and a bit more colourful than Space Invaders...
Just did a quick google for it. Apparently JM was pulled from the market and re-released with changed graphics as Cosmic Cruncher. Katakis/Denaris, anyone?

Curiously enough the picture in the first post is from the Japanese version of "Avenger". The game released in the West was similar but with different graphics. The Japanese MAX version is better overall and more "authentic" to Space Invaders.
