Question about Copyright and Amiga music

Post by extremelee »

Hi. I'm new here so excuse the silly question.

Q: What is the deal with copyright and the amiga music I can download from this site. I mean, can I use it on my skate videos without getting sued by joe bloggs who wrote it for example?

I've been looking for tunes to use on my videos for ages, this stuff is far better than the things I can produce with Ejay :)

Thanks.
Lee.

Most Amiga music is copyrighted, though very few companies or people mind about non-commercial usage. However, it's more likely to upset someone to use their remix without asking them first.

In general, as long as the remixer gives permission, no one will mind if you use one of the Amiga remixes in your non-commercial video.

This interests me also Chris, but what if, for example, its one of fleshbrains tunes, and nobody's seen that guy for AGES, not even Dr Awesome. I mean if its a mix you want to use, but cant get in touch with the author - where do u go then ?

Ok. Sounds fair to me. Thanks for clearing that up.

Also interested to hear what you/others have to say about Matrix comments.

Well, in general if you're going to use someone's remix and can't find them, and it's for a non-commercial usage, most people would use it, and then give prominent credits, preferably with a message to the remixer (like "where are U?") :) Depends if we're talking about the author of the tune or its remixer, of course.
