The future of The Z Show!
The future of The Z Show!
Hello you lot!
A while back I mentioned on Z that I was going to put a poll up on this board. Unfortunately, I failed to realise that I have the memory-span of a goldfish, and I had completely forgotten by the end of the show. However, today it suddenly popped back into my head, so I'm writing this now while it's fresh in my... er.. grey thing... in my head... you know...
Members of the board: I need your help! The Z Show has been running on SLAY Radio for almost a year now, and I want to hear from the people that count: the listeners! Elsewhere in this thread you will see a poll, and I would like you to provide an honest vote. This will help to shape future Z Shows.
Those of you who listen would have noticed that the format changed this year, mainly because Kenz hasn't been able to make it for various reasons, so it gave me the chance to chop and change, see what works, see what doesn't, etc.
This led to there being a lot less of the sound effects -- and the infamous farting! -- that had occurred in all of the 2004 shows. I have received a lot of encouraging complements about the way that Z is now going, but before I make any permanent changes, I need to see whether this is the general consensus.
There has now been enough of the "different format" Z Shows for you listeners to make up your mind. Or, of course, maybe you DON'T listen because you didn't like the format anyway. Whichever, this is your chance to let me know what you'd like your live Sunday SLAY Radio show to sound like!
So, please take a couple of minutes to look through the poll and vote for the option that's nearest to your opinion.
Thanks!
Boz.

I like the new format. Hence I voted for the "follow-through" free option (also known as No.2). =)
All that farting actually made parts of the old show unlistneable at times. Say what you want, but that's how I thought of it.
But an "enhanced" remix or two from time to time on the show couldn't hurt, even if the air surrounding the mics are instestal-gas-free. =)

I agree with the feedback so far - less tune wreckage is good unless it's a BAD choice of tune - in which case some old skool Z-Show japes should ensue ... Just to show the DJs don't necessarily agree with the tune that is playing.
But the occasional fart now again won't hurt, surely? (Well, actually some DO!)
And I personally would like to hear at least a couple of specially chosen SID tunes in each show - cos that's why we're all here after all.

I like the new format as well. It's almost a professional show now!
There is potential for overkill with the farty sound effects (however much I still like hearing them). Live farts, though, are most definitely exempt from any restrictions!

I don't miss the braps so much, but I do miss Kenz (aww!), something I talked to you [Boz] about at Retrovision; there's a distinct chemistry between the DJs, and when Kenz isn't there, noticeable gaps appear.
If Kenz can't commit full time (understandably), then a sidekick or guest presenter is always a good thing... I'm happy to pop down any time between now and late May...

Yep, that's a good point - the DJ/Sidekick idea works well for the "bouncing-off-each-other" thing, if that's the type of show that's being made (which Z is). That's why Skitz tries to fill-in when he can (or even just join in if there's already two) but this is not always possible because of logistics, work, etc etc -- you know, all that real-life crap that gets in the way of any fun!thalamus wrote:There's a distinct chemistry between the DJs, and when Kenz isn't there, noticeable gaps appear.

Someone also once suggested having a virtual-sidekick -- someone hanging around on Skype or somesuch. Although we've tried it with three people (the third being virtual) and it kind-of worked, I don't think the primary sidekick could be virtual. You need to have two people physically in the "studio" when the show is happening.
Ta for the offer, btw -- I'll be in touch
