...for such in depth-reviews...

Hunters Moon (Annikas Mix) - arranged by 2Klang
REVIEW BY ELIOT (25/03/2003)
No, I did not enjoy it... better you stay with David Whittaker It sounds too much like a "mixed salad" - with an abrupt end. Besides I do not like the original

Eliot

btw. if you didn't like the orginal, why you write a review...?

If you're a good reviewer, it's possible to review a cover without liking the original and be fair to the cover, as long as you recognise whether it's captured the spirit of the original, and take note of the technical achievements of the piece... in fact, some covers of originals I didn't like
I've loved (thinking of FTC's Humphrey, for instance). Some covers are
so good they actually make you like the original better (this happened to me when I heard Marcel's first synth version of "Nemesis the Warlock".

However, it does require lots of thinking about where your preferences end and the remix begins, I guess.

I agree. I love TDG's Judge Dredd and Makke's Hammerfist cover, but not the originals... However, even if this sort of thing isn't the case, a good reviewer should be able to write objectively rather than just subjectively...

Well, this special point of the guidelines is for people who don't like the remix because they don't like the melody. Of course in the above examples where you like the remix much better than the original this does not apply, and you're welcome to write a review.
