Dizzy the Adventurer

Post by Makke »

I just finished my first Nintendo remix. It's Dizzy the Adventurer from Codemasters.

It's sort of 60:s sounding + 80:s ska-punk. Anyway...I enjoyed making it, so hope you'll enjoy listening to it.

---- EDIT ----
Figured most people around here wouldn't be too familiar with the original, so I recorded a snippet and put it here:
http://www.student.bth.se/~manh01/dizzy.mp3

Accoding to some I sound like a retard on it, so I best post the lyrics as well. ;)
Dizzy and his girlfriend, Daisy, were out searching for Pogie their pet
When they discovered a secret way, to enter Zaks old castle which is quite cliché

But
Dizzy and his girlfriend, Daisy, desided to go and have a look
In the tower with a spinning thing, which made Daisy fall asleep after getting a little sting

Dizzy and Daisy
Sitting together in a tree
But how were they supposed to know
What the Evil Wizards crystal show

Dizzy and Daisy
Totally oblivious to what will be
How were they supposed to know
That soon they'll be caught by Boris the Troll

Dizzy and his girlfriend, Daisy, where taken to the dungeons far below
And the adventure could begin, how will it end, will Dizzy and Daisy win?

Well, how am I supposed to know? I never even ever played this game before
I just like the music, and made a little remix which in everyone's mind will stick
Oh, and I know the filename seems odd, but I submitted it to ocremix.org and their filename convention is sort of..."special".

Too bad that this is no C64 song so it won't get a red smily from me! :)

Excellent! I know "the sound of the 60'ies" wasn't always that great...but... for better "emulation of the 60-ies", please:

1. Guitars in the left speaker, singer in the right. I felt some weird panning with the guitars...
2. Put a lot of tube simulation on it (adding on 2nd, 3rd, 4th harmonics to get that "the radio is warm and nice"-sound),
3. Where is the snare drum? That too had some weird panning. Or is it just my head on a monday morning?
4. Add a strange equalizer on the lyrics. Cut away everything below 150Hz, and add a bump +6dB with a Q of 2.0 at some arbitrary frequency, say 2.5kHz. This will bring out the lyrics as well!
5. And last: Ignore me. This remix is excellent, Makke! :-D

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

Glad you like it! I'm working on something similar, but with more RKO friendly material. ;)

This excellent mix will probably/hopefully push Robotdreams out of my head finally! :)

Nice for it to get some airplay on Slay Radio as well. Great mix, Makke!
