Miss ParkPatrol takes a Break (feat.Elsa Persson)

Post by Pex `Mahoney` Tufvesson »

This is a remix of one of the ingame tunes from Park Patrol. A very catchy one, that I find myself humming every now and then, eventhough the last time I played that game was some 10 years ago.

And then I couldn't resist of putting some BreakDance into the refrain, you know that sound, that song, that incredibly cool sound that I couldn't believe the first time I heard it!

Anyway, this remix isn't easy to live with. I know! You'll have to get used to it, and slowly start building up a relationship with it. It's isn't ment to be a "listen-love-and-forget"-remix. It's more of a "listen-hate-love-hate-love-hate-love-hate-never-forget"-remix. Did I manage? Well, I don't know, so please tell me!

Elsa Persson is singing all the vocals, and if you can't follow them, let's say it's mostly about "Come on and break dance", "Get you fat f*cking ass on the ground". She's an altoe and indeed a very nice and light-hearted person, living in Lund, Sweden. She would never have put those words into her own mouth unless I hadn't forced her!

Any comments? Love it or hate it? I personally would *love* to have your comments. A mail, a review, a post at this forum, it's a world full of possibilities! :D

It's interesting how vocals are starting to play a bigger role in SID remixes. Whether it's replicating the melody or adding depth to a tune, with digital recording techniques it has become much easier to sing along with SID...

Now, to this tune. Mahoney, you have done a really good job. The original is very soft, but what we have here is very different. In places it reminded me of Bjork, in others it was very 80's.

I agree that some people may find it difficult to live with, even completely off the wall. On a second listen I was getting used to it, by the third I loved it! :D

Okay, I liked it on the first listen. Haden't heard the origional before so tracked it down afterwards.

I can't say its very catchy (nor the origional), but its late at night here and i'm proberlly not in the mood to get anything repeating in my head.

Still, once again a good use of vocals, and a well put togeather remix :)

I love it! I'm getting really into your remixes, Pex, and I think this is a great example. Very funky and an interesting take on the original SID. Highly recommended. :)

Pex,

This is really cool. The breakdance part had me uncontrollably tapping my feet to the rythm. The vocalist has done a great job too - my congrats to her!

Nice and original!

"Sometime" is never too late ;-)
Just wanted to say that I love the groove (even more groovy than your MULE-remix) and the flawless vocal performance! :D
