c64 DTV - What about the SID

Post by LMan »

Hey all,

been wondering: since there is not really a SID chip inside the DTV, does it perform exactly like a 6581 or 8580, or are there audible differences?

If not, could this be a basis for a new generation of HardSID cards? :D

It's SID emulation rather than a real chip.

No filter, but what I heard on Kenz's TV at the weekend sounded alright.

No filter? Hope they're gonna fix that in future c64 releases. :) Okay I don't want to complain - it's cool enough there's new c64 hardware at all. :)

Thanks for the info!

Anything that has the missus going "Let me have another go at that 'Califonia Games' thingy." is alright by me, even if the sound turns out to be a bit off. :D

Some stuff sounds great, some sounds a bit dodgy - I was impressed that the digis in the Netherworld music were intact though.

(Cybernoid sounds cool!) 8)
