WIP: Spectrum (Electricity Remix)

Post by k_rostoen »

Well, this is a result of me finally getting my first Midi keyboard. Nothing fancy, just a M-Audio 49e. If I only could play the piano.

Anyway, I had to try it out, and I like how you get a more "real" sound when not all notes are at the same velocity and length etc.

So, when sitting here working on this little song of mine I came to think of some samples I had lying around. Some rap and some soul (?). I thought, why not add them to the song and I think they fit pretty well. The singing goes a tad too fast here and there, have to fix that, but then again there is a _lot_ to fix.

I don't know what this forum thinks about samples like this as they are definitely breaking all copyright laws, but I thought I'd put it out anyway. If any of you are good rappers and singers I'd be more than happy to swap the samples ;)

As mentioned I think the samples fit pretty well - soundlike.. though the lyrics are crashing a bit.. he rapping about not getting girls and she singing about dancing with him... oh well, shit happens.

The rap-samples are from Skee-Lo's "I Wish". I have no idea who is singing, I found the sample on some sample-site once. The original SID can be downloaded here: http://www.c64.org/HVSC/VARIOUS/A-F/Blu ... ectrum.sid

And the MP3 can be downloaded here: http://25-3.com/musikk/Kristian_Rostoen ... mix%29.mp3

C&C more than welcome.

Edit: Why won't the MP3 be hyperlinked?
Edit 2: Is the link working now?
Edit 3: Oh... the url-thing is not too fond of parathesis.

I think you don't have to use the url tag if you don't plan to give an alias the name of your url...try to remove them and remove your brackets () in your mp3 name

Thanks. Strange though, as I used the same method on both the MP3 and the SID. Oh well....

OT. Its not so strange. You can't put arbitrary characters in URI/URL strings. To some degree, you can use this link in your browser - but only on the individual parts of the path between the slashes.

javascript:alert(escape("Kristian_Rostoen-Spectrum_(Electricity_Remix).mp3"))

Thanks. As I also work with web development I should've known this. Probably because I've never used () in a link earlier :)

Thanks, merman :)

Here's a little update. Fixed some stuff but need to shorten the song, it's way too long now. Drums sucks, dunno how to make them better at the moment.
