Vendetta

Post by XGener8or »

Yo guys

I just finished my latest C64 "remix" project. This is the intro music to "Vendetta" from System3. The game was like Last Ninja but with a badass soldier dude instead 8) It was quite cool, but not as good as Last Ninja. Anyway, the music was, not surprisingly, also made by my favourite SID composer, Matt Gray and strangely enough, no-one had ever made a new version of this tune before. Maybe it's not so well known.

One day when I listened to the original I thought "Hmm, this would sound pretty cool with a deep male choir chanting the melody" And that's how this all started out. It turned out sounding pretty cool and powerful, with a very big "Film score" type edge.

It's not a remix with improvised stuff/dance beats, this is a complete note for note make-over, bringing the old song into modern times

And finally, the link

I've always thought that even with note for note makeovers
there's room for extra tracks: in this case, you evoke a style with
your orchestration but don't compensate by having the extra
instruments the brain is expecting to hear: like high tremelo strings
or swoops here and there to add some interest up in the high frequencies...

So, you've got a great atmosphere going, but it makes this listener want
more than is in the SID. Dammit :)

Not bad. I like the choir effect, but as Chris says it needs more layers of sound to really beef it up. I'm thinking, what if Jerry Goldsmith did the movie score for a Vendetta film?

I see what you mean. good feedback. Maybe I will continue on this further. It would be very nice if I could really make it sound "huge"

I kinda like it, sounds very much like a modern in-game type of tune. I can visage moving my little character around the screen near temples. Kinda has a feeling of impending danger, but without ever getting to it's final enemy.

sorta leaves ya feeling wanting or waiting... for the big finale.

thumbs up mate, got a great mood. :))
