Superstars is back!

Post by Waz »

Well, okay, not any new showings of the multi-event sports challenge, but if you have Sky, take a peek at ESPN Classic (channel 442) every Monday and Wednesday night at 7pm.. This week they showed the 1977 and 1978 European finals, which meant the likes of Brian Jacks kicking ass.

Those of you at my age will remember Superstars very fondly indeed. I'm just waiting for the classic Kevin Keegan bike race moment to be on the show he featured in, not to mention the other night Keith Fielding being completely gutted at just missing out on winning the European title.

Proper sportsmen and proper competitors complete with David Vine commentary - now we're talking!!

I want to see them repeat the one where it's Stan Bowles making a right pig's ear of the challenge (as he'd had a skinful the night before) :D
'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death.
I'm very disappointed with that attitude.
I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'

Well you might want to grab a copy of this little baby, which features Stan's excellent canoeing skills as well as him shooting the table :)

£5-99, bargain. I have this myself (check the review on my web site, Paul) and it's not bad stuff at all, just wish there was more of it..

And a real treat tonight, the 1981 women's final. Suzanne Dando looked rather nice it had to be said, but she was runner up in the end to the previous champion, Val Robinson. Some good performances though! :)

Check out Channel 427 on Sky, TWC. They have World of Sport wrestling on there on a regular basis!
