My Online CD Buying Experience. (Rant)

Post by Analog-X64 »

I love helping/contributing to the Remix Scene anyway I can and one of the ways is to buy Audio CD's, but there is one thing that holds me back from buying more and that is the "Canadian Border Services Agency". Anytime I order something from the U.K. and sometimes U.S.A, my stuff goes through these guys and I get a CBSA Postal Import Form and a breakdown.

The Last CD I ordered was Instant Remedy for GBP $9.99

So this is how this item is classified.

Value for Duty (CAN$) $21.15

GST/HST/TPS/TVH (Taxes) $1.27
PST/TVP (More Taxes) $1.69
Handling Fee $5.00

Total Payable. $7.96

So by the time Everything is said and done. I've pretty much paid anywhere from $30-$35 for a single CD.

You may ask than why dont I just order in bulk.....well the answer is it makes no difference...I just endup paying more, all the taxes and handling fees are based on the Value of the Item(s) purchased.

Sorry I had to vent.

Why didn't you say something before?

For Norway I send stuff out as "Gift" and leave out the invoice. Plus I write a friendly message on it.

I can easily extend that to Canada if you're getting screwed too.

I didnt know I could ask that. :D I've asked from others in the past and some people have gotten mad at me for asking. So I stopped asking.

So now I know to ask next time. :)

Thank you.

and it was written that the Abbott was good.
it was written that the Abbott cared.
it was spoken in many places that the Abbott was The One.
in hushed tones and in proud voices it was said that the Abbott was the First True Disciple of Hubbard and was loved by all.
the Abbott can do no wrong.
the Abbott is pure and just.

All hail the Abbott for we are all lesser beings.

And yet I answer to the Great Gods Tanya, John and Stephanie, Mr Taxman and Mr G. Reaper. It humbles me. Not that much, but enough to stop me posting poetry ;-)
