And no, don't ask me what tunes are going to be in it: although we have a preliminary listing, Tom Boecker asked me not to announce anything more specific until the composition is scored. The aim was to include as many composers as possible, so it's not going to be just a Hubbard medley.

I'm a bit surprised that people here on this board don't seem to be very enthusiastic about this event (at least I have the feeling that is the case). Thomas Boecker has pulled off a fantastic series of game music concerts in Leipzig in the past and I'm really glad I was able to attend most of them - if you're anywhere near to Stockholm on June 2nd, you should really consider checking out one of their shows (there will be two concerts on that day). Highlights that might be of particular interest:

A dedicated C64 medley (supervised by Chris Abbott)
http://www.play-symphony.com/news.php?full=76
The medley will feature music from the following games:
- International Karate by Rob Hubbard
- Great Giana Sisters by Chris Huelsbeck
- The Last Ninja by Ben Daglish
- Wizball by Martin Galway
- Forbidden Forest by Paul Norman
- Ancestors (Zoids Desert Battle) by Larry Fast

A performance by Machinae Supremacy
http://www.play-symphony.com/news.php?full=71
The band will perform on the epic "Final Fantasy VI - Dancing Mad". The performance will be a world-premiere featuring pipe organ, orchestra, choir and metal band. I'm not sure if there are a lot of "Final Fantasy" fans in here, but if some of you have heard the "Black Mages" arrangements, you have an idea what this could sound like - certainly not to be missed!

@Jan:

I'm totally psyched about the concert and I'm surely going. *hmmm* Perhaps this would be a good time to do some chit-chatting with Machinae Supremacy as well...

The spirit of BIT runs through the medley, though I think the orchestrator has taken his own approach to some of it... (like, I think they're not doing the final Zoids verse).

My probably worst contribution to the C64-remix-scene would be this: an extremely poor videoclip from the aforementioned concert. I just came back from the event, and it was smashing. Just watching all these strange peoples with strange haircuts, strange t-shirts and fat bellys (not speaking of the people performing the music here) was a treat in itself.

Arnie Roth seemed utterly happy with the response from the crowd and the skills of the orchestra, and I enjoyed the event from my cosy red seat.

Again, sorry for the poor recording my Sony Ericsson phone was able to make. But, if you're prepared for some grainy video with 2-bit sound... here goes: http://www.wobbler.nu/jox/Play_Symphony_Sthlm.mov

Thanks for the first view! Edited highlights, I assume :)

That theme from Lemmings: wasn't that originally from "Puggs in Space"?

Looking forward to hearing a proper bootleg. Ben will be most impressed :)
