Oh dear god NO!

I think like many i was privvy to speaking with Richard both in person and online - Always found him a true gentleman and a likable fellow who always had time to speak openly.

I'm truely saddened by the news. Not only have we lost one of the greatest c64 composers but also a very decent and good man.

My most sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Rest in Peace.

Main news page worthy in my opinion - let alone a sticky.

I only met Richard once ... but once was plenty. R.I.P Richie boy ... Heaven has another awesome musician inside it's gates, time to ROCK the clouds.

A sad loss for the community and scene. Today, earth is a quieter place. My best to his family.

A&S.

This is exactly the kind of thread that MUST be a sticky one.

I had the pleasure to talk a bit to Mr Joseph during BIT Live Brighton. I bought him a beer (I think it was at the same time as I bought Don Kwed a beer as well) and that moment together with dining with Barry Leitch, David Whittaker and a lot of others and the personal walkthrough of Martin Galways diskbox by mr God himself that I started to realize that there actually was a great community with a fantastic spirit brewing around the old C64. This totally showed as well on the IRC (#SLAYRadio) last night during Boz' impromptu show, which turned out to be a great tribute to Mr Joseph and also just put the emphasis on how important it is to support each other and to behave civilized. If you were around the IRC at that time you'll know exactly what I mean with this.

Get a listen to the show here.

This is very sad news indeed. I too was lucky enough to meet Richard at a few BitLive events and as well as being a darned nice chap to talk too he seemed genuinely overwhelmed and impressed by all the effort and enthusiasm that went into putting the retro events and CDs together. I loved the way he would pick up a CD and marvel at the packaging or listen intently as I enthused about our retro adventures.

R.I.P. Richard, you will be sadly missed but your music will live forever.

[edit]: Here's a nice way to remember him:

I happened to be doing an impromptu show last night, so I dedicated the rest of the show to Richard, played some of his SIDs and some of the remixes out there.

I actually mentioned the picture that Waz has posted and will always be the way that I will remember him - that's the kind of guy he was!

Rest in peace, Richard.

Richard, - Rimrunner, Antiriad, Barbarian I an much more. You were one of the few musicians that were capable to amuse me with just anything they produced. Rest in peace.
