Just joined this great group - so many cool people here :-)

but i just thought i should mention that this Scooter remix is NOT a remix of the original Hulsbeck composition but of a track called "Atlantis ITA - See you in the next life" a German track on Overdose recordings from 1998 .. it was availible on CD and Vinyl ... in the UK it was signed to Additive Records (off shoot of Positiva)

I think that permission was required from Chris for both :) ....

ha ! .. my geeky DJ knowledge might come in handy sometime :)

That other remix (Atlantis ITA) was done without my permission and I am still angry about it. I tried to get help from my publisher and an attorney, but they both told me it's probably not worthwhile to pursue...

Sounds like lazy publishers to me. I went after Console, and activated
the GEMA dispute procedure, which doesn't involve attorneys, at least
initially.

So, a question pops up:

let's assume i remix that very same track from turrican2, and, as usual, i put it free for download (my site, amigaremix).

What happens?

Can Scooter sue me?

Will Chris sue me?

i'm a little puzzled.

Only Chris could possibly have a problem, since Scooter don't acquire
any rights to Turrican 2 by covering it.

Chris, I don't think I've got your email in my address book any more,
since I switched to XP. Could you email me at chris@c64audio.com
a quick email?

I don't have a problem with remixes that are for non-profit. They happen all the time (remix.kwed.org and amigaremix.com etc.) and usually I get a credit there, so I'm fine with that.

But as soon as somebody sells or uses my music in a commercial way and didn't even ask for permission, it should be clear to anyone that I get pissed.

In case of Scooter, they asked me, I gave my permission, I got credit and some royalties (nothing to become rich though, as I said), so I'm fine with that.

Alright!

Chris (Huelsbeck), I am a very BIG fun of your work and I am very happy to see you here with us on this great site! I also had a fun site hosted in tripod sometime, but it has gone one day :(

I want to ask you a couple of things now that I found you for real (you are real aren't you? :) if you don't mind!

1. Are we gonna see a new Turrican game / music EVER?
2. Are we gonna see a new Apidya game / music EVER?
3. What do you think of DHS's Apidya remix?
4. Given the fact that Amiga IS comming back and for good (see Pegasos / AmigaOne), do you (Factor5) plan to make any games for it?

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys this site (amigaremix.com) is d@mn g00d! Keep up the good work!

Bye :D

1. Unlikely (though some music that goes in that direction for a different game may be possible)
2. Same as 1
3. I don't remember it "right this moment", I may have heard it at some point in the past
4. Do you mean "come back" as in mainstream commercial success? ;)

Best,

Chris

Sorry, off topic now.

Chris, I have seen you composed for Merregnon 2 one track. Do you get it to come to Leipzig with Andy Brick, so we can met once again ?

Cheers

Hi DHS,
He can't think anything worse of what i think of it..
I think it is great! No, I think it is kick ass!
I already burned it to CD Audio, along with some other tracks from here :D

Hi Chris,
1. Unlikely (though some music that goes in that direction for a different game may be possible)
2. Same as 1
That is bad .
I still think Turrican is maybe the best action game ever played! You know I am a very big fun of all Turrican games too :D (maybe you already have magically guessed that ). Boy, I could talk all day about how good that games are...

Anyway this is off topic, BUT I won't loose my hope, yet! You know, retro is cool now, maybe you guys will give another spin on that sometime in the future...
4. Do you mean "come back" as in mainstream commercial success?
Would you be surpised?
Lots of things happened in the Amiga world since last year. More than all the years before since Commodore's fall... I have a very good fell about that :D

Thanks very much,

Dimitris
