C64 Sample Sighting :)
A friend of mine emailed me regarding a new band so I decided to take a listen and under the media section they have a music video.
00:43 into the video I heard a very familiar C64 Sample. I wont even mention the name here... You will all know which one it is.
Here is the link.

The artist who is "Death to Music" is also part of the collective "Blacksmoke" which features some ex-KLF members. Intriguing..
.. but still, it's definitely those arpeggios lifted from the original SID. Chris, you know what to do!

Oh... the good old copyright issue ... Commando... (sorry to leak the secret )... did Hubbard not "cover" that tune himself?
not to start a huge debate here, but where the hell does one draw the line between inspiration and copyright infringement? ... I don't really know what to think...

In my own experience lawsuits don't make any sense unless the amount is around or above £10.000.
And even then you have to consider things very carefully as you might not win and/or still get stuck with large expenses to your lawyer as well as costs of the trial.
I think there's only really been two obvious cases where lawsuits (potentially) made sense, Kernkraft and Timbaland.
Of course you could just send a nice letter asking for a cut or try to freeze the mechanical copyrights internationally via BIEM, and also performance copyrights of course.

In this case: grey area, probably not worth doing anything about.razmo wrote:Oh... the good old copyright issue ... Commando... (sorry to leak the secret )... did Hubbard not "cover" that tune himself?
