Lots of SID

Post by Chris Abbott »

We will be selling Hardsids and Catweasels (PCI) with SID chips installed
at BIT Live. Plus we will hopefully be demonstrating the world's first
shoulder-slung playable SID keyboard :)

OK, keyboard is complete and playable (picture here soon). Plus we've now got all the Catweasels and Hardsid cards to sell).

Hardsid = up to 4 sids on a PCI card to put in the PC. Great for MIDI composition using SID sounds, or just playing SIDs through Sidplay, etc.

Catweasel = PCI card, takes a single SID, can act as a SID player. Main feature is that it you plug your 3.5" or 5.25" drives into it, and they can suddenly read Amiga, ST and C64 disks.

Also, you can plug an Atari-style joystick into your C64 with it :)
Emulation sucks without the right controller!

Not that much, 89,90 EUR. I think it's a reasonable price for such a wonderful gadget. :)

I've been meaning to buy one, but never got round to do it. Though I best buy one or else Sir Garbagetruck won't stop nagging on me to get one. :)

That's very interesting:

I checked on the web for more info, but i didn't find what i want to know.

Is it the Catweasel Mk-III PCI/Flipper?

If yes:

-The attached devices will be seen by windows as normal devices?
-The attached devices will be directly used by emus such WinUAE?
-The installed SID will be avaiable in "hardsid" emulations (so it can be used by SidPlay, c64 emus, and so on) ?

thx

Not quite (contrary to what I expected). Apparently you have to use
a disk image reader that comes with the Catweasel

Actually, yes. But only WinUAE.

Only Acid64 at this time, apparently.

The card is useful for what it offers, and invaluable for some things,
but it's frustrating it doesn't offer the obvious things I expected it to.

Still with the money I'm asking for it though... (and incidentally,
it's 89.95 Euros + postage on the Individual Computers site: I still
had to pay FedEx to get them here).

I don't know how much it will be at the shop at the event though, yet.

Four of the ten available Hardsid Quattros will be fully populated with
6581s.
