Announcement: News about Slaygon and the SLAY Gathering

Post by Boz »

Hi everyone,

Slaygon has unfortunately had to go to hospital and will be staying there a few days.

The gathering will still be going ahead, but if you should have any questions, please direct towards myself, Ziphoid or Skitz who will be around to help.

As a guideline, we are having the pre-gathering gathering at Kville Biljard tonight (Friday, starting at around 6 ish). On Saturday, we will start roaming up to Keillers Park around midday (weather permitting), then back to the biljard for 7pm, where we have the back room to ourselves.

If the weather turns out to be against us, we'll just wing it in the day!

Slaygon would also like to pass on his regards to you all, and he apologises that he won't be there in person. I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing him a speedy recovery.

Thanks,

Boz.

It seems this Gathering is struck with many people being ill or unwell to travel. I myself had to leave the Pre-Gathering gathering tonight after only an hour because of my JIPPY stomach playing up again.....

Plus for some reason I haven't really had any sleep since getting here but you can ask Misser the reason for that or Andreas for the proof :)

I talked to Slaygon earlier today, the antibiotics are working so he's no longer in the pain he was, which he is very happy about ;) but he won't know what's going to happen until Monday when the doctor evaluates his progress. It's either more antibiotics (at home) or an operation. So right now he's stuck in the hospital with an IV tree with fluids and a ban on food/drink.

He did get a three hour leave from the hospital to come down and play some pool and socialise with us geeks yesterday, and said he really enjoyed it, but when time came for him to go back to the hospital he was so tired his legs were shaking..

He does have limited Internet access at the hospital, but if you want to send him get-well messages, text message (SMS) is probably the best way.

Thanks for the update, Fnord. What exactly happened to Slaygon to make him fall so ill?

I sincerely hope that Slaygon recovers soon no matter what, it must be horrible to be in hospital but I'm sure that everyone around these parts will wish him well and hope that he's back to his usual self soon.

Right now the doctors are betting on gallstones that turned into a gall bladder infection that spread to the liver.

A bunch of us crowded into two cars before the park meetup and went to see Slaygon at the hospital and hand over such essentials as laptop and snus. He'd just that morning gotten the first antibiotics shot (and some morphine) and was very happy to be somewhat comfortable for the first time in days:

He also felt well enough to do a Tas impersonation ("I donnoooo.. I just donnoooo.."):

Not trying to hijack the thread.

I can only imagine how much more pain Slay is going through. I never mentioned it here, but for the past 3 months I've had pain on my side. I went to the doctors and had all the test... they told me I had already passed the stone, but the pain would still be there....3 friggin months of pain!!!.

Its good that Slaygon has had the support of people visiting and such...makes the healing process so much better.
