I did work experience at a record shop when I was about 15, and played my demo tape (made on Amiga Octamed and and Yamaha SY22), to one of the A&R men that used to pop in (usually to 'fix' the Gallup machine/charts by giving away freebies of the latest Kylie single, which would then be sold at a silly price and promptly get to number 1).
Anyway, after saying some less than enthusiastic crap like "Yeah, it's really good [yawn]...", he went on to remix a Suzanne Vega record called 'Tom's Diner' (under the name of D.N.A.), which was a bit of a hit as I recall...
Oh, and Maff Evans reviewed my demo tape in Future Music back in 1993.
Oh, and David Ike came to my school and signed my autograph book (when he was still a goalie for Hereford United)...
