Analog X: bet you can do nice pads through a smallstone with the MKS-30 ... I've got an MKS-50 myself and it's sweet... the SH-101 I'm not so sure about, since it's monophonic, and would not allow chords, but nonetheless, the SH-101 is a darn nice machine!.... it has a SSM filter
the only filter-chip I don't have in my collection
... the same filter is in many of KORG's machines like the Mono/Poly and the Polysix... also early E-mu samplers had them... I believe Dave Rossum who founded E-mu actually designed the SSM chips
... If I remember correctly, also the Waldorf PPG had SSM filters...
though, I prefer custom filters... synths with their own personal filter, that make them unique... the SSM and CEM filter chips was used in REALLY many analog and semi-analog machines in the 80's... that is why some of Roland's and Korgs synths sound so special... they have a unique filter. Moog as well... it's incredible how big a difference a filter make the sound... even within the same filter-chips...
now... not having funds for a real Moog or ARP analog synth, teh best I've managed is still the Waldorf Pulse... it's a cascade filter, and it's HOT! ... I've not managed to make anything even close with any other analog filter yet... it's not suited for agressive resonance TB-303 type sounds, but if you were to remix some boomy bass tracks like for example many of DRAX' tunes, the Pulse would simple kick ass ultimately! it's just that type of filter sound that will "eat up" any other sounds in it's frequency range
... going really deep, I can feel air comming from my monitors more than 1 meters away!!!

... niiiiiiice warm analog oscillators and filters.... it's monophonic, and sounds incredible with stringsounds... and through the Smallstone Phaser!? ... WOWOWOW!
