Re: A break from music...
I "hope" I have the same thing then
I don't want to have this crap, I haven't been too good to my ears, hardly used any earpluggs at work and had too loud music in my earphones :/
Now I will change all that cause it is makeing me crazy and music IS my life!

Damnit you! In most interviews and articles written by producers and audio engineers they really tell you to be carefull with your ears. Use those earplugs! A treacherous tool is the pneumatic nailgun because the noise is so short you don't realize it's so LOUD and the hearing takes damage anyway.trace wrote: I don't want to have this crap, I haven't been too good to my ears, hardly used any earpluggs at work and had too loud music in my earphones :/
I really hope it's temporary, you'd better see a doctor.
I did a stupid thing too when I was younger (who haven't), I made a home made firecracker and it went off directly when I lit it. I had a ringing sound for days and I can't hear frequences beyond 14000 hz or so. Otherwise my hearing is good thankfully.
Re: A break from music...
I used to play drums in a punk band, and never use earplugs when we practiced. Luckily it never left any permanent damage. Well, not to the ears anyway.
Nowadays I try to be careful (even though I like loud music in my headphones).
I hope the ringing goes away, Trace, and that you'll be back to music producing again soon!

Re: A break from music...
Hi Trace,
I do have tinnitus and it's quit annoying and looses life quality. Although I still can deal with making music, I advise everyone to take signals serious. Please always visit a doctor within the first 2 days after you got noise and peeps in the ears. Time is a factor for healing if it's not caused by fluids or anything else.
Good luck.

Re: A break from music...
Thanks you all, I will book time for a doctor tomorrow to check me up, hope it's just an infection.
It was wierd haveing those earplugs in today at work, i only heard the small piiiiiiiiip all the time.
It also feels like it has something to do with me beeing so stressed and so cause when I get excited and so the piiiiip increses alittle in volume, then when I calm down it fades but not entierly...
Wish me luck.

Re: A break from music...
I've had tinnitus for the last 3 years, ever since i had a pretty bad ear infection. Unfortunately there is nothing the specialists could do about it, it is a nuisance when things are quiet, then i really notice it. Hopefully you are only going through a short time with it otherwise it takes a while to get used to it.
Re: A break from music...
Have been at the doctor now and he couldn't find anything "wierd" in my ears, he suggested that I take it easy with my ears and use earpluggs, plenty of rest from sounds and stuff.
He suggested that I call him again in a week if it hasn't got better and I will be sent to an ear specialist.
My fear is that I have got Tinnitus :/ from all that music

Re: A break from music...
Sorry to hear about that
Hopefully you can continue working with music at lower volume.

Re: A break from music...
Thanks
I am terrified that the noises in my ears will get worse, cause I can imagine how it feels like and why those who get a really bad tinnitus commit suicude...
I will try to do something but at a lower volume, mostly becuse I have some project I need to finish.
It's not gonna be the same is some wierd way but I have to think about my ears first.
I probably gonna see a ear doctor soon cause I feel some strange pressure in my ears.

Re: A break from music...
That pressure feeling could be an inner ear infection which is pretty dangerous to your hearing if not taken care of but it could also mean that your inner lubes are clogged up and you cannot even out air pressure - which is annoying but harmless.
Going to a specialist is a very good idea.
I hope it's just some wierd effect from a cold or something.

Re: A break from music...
It can also be caused by a reduced blood flow to the ears; I get it sometimes because I'm hypotensive. My hearing is still perfect according to the checkup I had last year. Just the way it goes...
Lie with passion and be forever damned...
Re: A break from music...
I will get an appointment to see a specialist to check it out cause I DO NOT want to get reduced hearing or worse...
If I do get deaf "knock on wood" I can start drawing and do webdesign again
I haven't got a cold for month so I doubt it is that but who knows...
Perhaps this is good to leave music for a while so I can concentrate on my website and "MusicDisks" or what it is called nowadays
Ps: Went ice scateing again with my son and I did a pretty nice fall, I would have got 10,10,10,10,10 from the judges LOL
It was a long time since I ice scateing but I am catching up, I can go really fast, break and do fast turns, though it was a combination of those 3 that got me falling
