Odyssey - The Amiga Demo Reborn! (finally!)
Odyssey - The Amiga Demo Reborn! (finally!)
This is a retelling of the classic Commodore amiga demo 'Odyssey'. The original being a 45 minute story about a hero fighting against an evil invader. This remake is trimmed down to just under 20 minutes and was created using Lightwave 3D, Premiere Pro and After Effects. The Music was created in Ableton Live 7 by the extremely talented Daxx (Chris Crusher). The majority of visuals were created by Myself, Mat Recardo with the jungle textures and the actual CGI likeness of our hero Zork, supplied by my brother Tim.
There are no sound effects in this release of the animation. I wanted the initial launch of this to be a sort of space opera whereby the usual sound effects of a traditional movie do not drown out the beautiful musical scores from Chris.
The original amiga version, created by the demogroup Alcatraz. A big shout out to these guys who helped make the demo scene what it was. Hornet, PGCS, Greg, Zoltar
The animation took just under two years to create which is partly due to the amount of scenes required but mainly due to an eight month dry spell on my part. Once I got back in the saddle, I was able to complete the remaining scenes and polish the edit up.
You've no doubt already heard Daxx' tunes but this was the visual element that was always intended to be with it.
I am uploading a higher quality version soon but for now heres this:-
If you like it please digg it here:-

Absolutely outstanding work matey and I also cannot wait for a higher quality version (hopefully coming soon?).
Maybe it's just me but the opening sequence smacks of another opening sequence that I have seen before involving a ZX Spectrum - I wonder what that could be?

The XMas Chortles 2 is from prefim too
Re: Odyssey - The Amiga Demo Reborn! (finally!)
Very impressive, well done.
Re: Odyssey - The Amiga Demo Reborn! (finally!)
Yeah I know, I'm in it!! and just a small correction in that Kenz is the producer of XMAS Chortles 2 SE DVD but Prefim was instrumental in getting all the fancy CGI clips redone!daXX wrote:The XMas Chortles 2 is from prefim too
Both me and Prefim are in the film itself and I also did one of the remixes used (Travolta's - Nine Fingers!).
Anyway, if you haven't seen XMAS Chortles 2 SE then you are missing a completely bizarre experience which may leave you mentally scared!

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the comments. For now I've added the ability to download the sourve WMV from vimeo. Its 1024x576 but compressed. It should look a lot better than the online version. I am trying to nail down some fast permanent storage for the full on quality one. Once done, I'll post it here.
