I wonder if somebody does "art" with textures and sculpting in game engines...
(attached picture is an old Half-Life map done with textures from X-BTF. And, yes, there are Stormtroopers in there)
EDIT: To make things clear :
Textures are taken from the game X-Beyond the Frontierand converted to Half-Life. Stormtrooper models are from an experimental french Jediknight mod called Testmod (which is pretty dead now for years) and seemed to be conversions from the original models of Jediknight. The models of the pilot seats are taken from an older version of the Half-Life mod "Natural Selection".

Re: "Art" in game engines
Selfmade texture work for a tech door :
EDIT: Just in case some troll waltzes in here...
The doors in Doom³ were my paragon but the texture was done from scratch by myself. I used free photos from the internet to create metal surfaces - but the photos were on my HDD for such a long time, I don't know the original photographers anymore. Well, the photos are f*cked up beyond recognition right now, so this should not be a problem anymore.
This is how this door texture is used in a map :

Nice work there Vosla
I know some people who will walk around in a game and take snap shots of outdoor scenes and such.. one good example is the "Myst V - End of Ages" very nice graphics in the game so it make it perfect for such a thing.

Thanks, Analog-X64 & LMan!
Another experiment was a round door which rotates to the side. Proves to be a timing problem but looks nice imho. EDIT: This time all textures were of my creation. I only played around with bumpmaps. The guy is a diversant monster from the Half-Life Mod 'Paranoia'. Same mod allows for bumpmaps in Half-Life.
'The Carthago' gangway. This is located beneath a cockpit of a space vessel. The entryway descends to the runway. This animated GIF is just in CLOSED/OPEN position. EDIT: Most textures are taken again from X-Bexond the Frontier, imported into Half-Life. The grate texture is my work. The flashlight is a dead giveaway that this runs in the Half-Life Mod 'Paranoia'.
