Did that Zombie Nation tune make remixing popular?

I know the C64 and Amiga tunes have always been remixed but I was listening to Kernkrafts Zombie Nations Lazy Jones remix and I was wondering whether from the success of that no1 tune, did it further promote the idea of C64 remixing to a wider audience once musicians became away of where the sample(I'll say sample but I believe it was done on an Sidstation) eventually came from?
