BIT Live 20xx
Re: BIT Live 20xx
Sign me up! A couple of days of pre-BIT Live shopping should convince Sara as well - but she's always easily convinced to tag along to these nerd-fests, bless her.Chris Abbott wrote:The plan is also to have Ben Daglish hosting it, helped by Makke and with special guests such as Anna Black presenting awards, and to have the best acts from the years come and reprise a kind of "greatest hits" of their work: so lots of variety, and not much work all round for the acts, if they're willing to come.
@Chris: Btw. on a different topic. Found an interview with you in an 11 year old issue of Tekno (Swedish/Norwegian magazine), where you talk about Back In Time 1. Do you have a copy of it, and if not, do you want me to save it for you? I'm throwing all my old computer mags out.

Re: BIT Live 20xx
I think I already got the Tekno thing thanks Makke
VIP wise, the event will probably depend on finding 50-75 VIPs who can pay £50 for front-row tickets and "sponsor" status.
That way the core costs of the theatre and the PA/equipment are covered. I'm assuming I can find 50-75 such people among my friends and colleagues in the C64 community. The finances of the event would pretty much mean that acts would have to cover their own costs to maximise the chances of producing a decent amount of money for the chosen charity, which makes things slightly more problematic, since obviously times are tight, and the problem with income streams such as CD sales (which might cover some costs) is that they're not predictable. I'd hope that the sheer fun of playing this gig would sway it, especially since most of the acts would have come as fans anyway
Maybe also this would be the first "Facebook" BIT Live
The steps to get this confirmed are to work out with Jon Hare how the charity thing will work, and talk to the theatre. I'm guessing everything else would be a "build it and they will come" moment. Note that this is the first time I've actually announced a BIT Live before even the venue was chosen or the acts confirmed, so this one will be handled quite differently (and pretty transparently).

Re: BIT Live 20xx
Sounds great to me ! If it is in London, I would be more than interested ! Also, I would like to donate a T-Shirt I had signed by many people ( including Richard Joseph ) at Back in Time Live 2001 ( Gossips Night Club ) [ http://www.arisfamily.co.uk/alex/bitlive2.htm ]. Hopefully, this could be auctioned off on the night with the proceeds going to Cancer Research or a similar charity.
Alex.

Re: BIT Live 20xx
Having seen the BIT Live DVD I deeply regret having never been to one of these. Are the VIP tickets available to anyone or do you have to be well known on the scene to buy one?

Re: BIT Live 20xx
In general I was assuming I'd have to do some arm twisting for the event-wouldn't-happen lot of £50 tickets, and the people whose arms I'd be twisting would be people I knew... but there's no policy decision based on fame, it was just a practical thing... and don't forget that this event doesn't technically exist yet, since we've yet to talk to the theatre. Best not to take anything for granted.Darren Guest wrote:Having seen the BIT Live DVD I deeply regret having never been to one of these.
