Over 20 years before The Beatles appeared in their own Guitar Hero software, similar was released for the Commodore 64:

I think it's a great little package. The sonics are very impressive for 1985 standards and it came with a simple music book. It also supports MIDI for both in and output, which was quite advanced for a home computer program then. And the capability to progress through the tunes at my own plodding pace really helps me to get my head around anything in the book. My first impression was of mild indifference as nowadays we're used to computers blaring out sampled sound, or wavetable synthesis rather like real instruments. But when I approached it as a sophisticated interactive 70s-style synth LP, I was almost agog.
The songs have their own preset sounds which you can't change. But these presets are many, and one nice surprise is a different arrangement of the tunes when you switch to LP Mode to play them all in sequence. This effectively gives you two albums in one, albums sounding just like the early synthesiser records I collect and enjoy.
Unfortunately my Datel, Passport and Sonus MIDI cartridges are not (obviously) compatible, but the quality and care taken with the sounds in this software means I don't really fancy using them anyway. And it seems a good bit of software to practice my drums to as well.

MAGICAL MYSTERY TAPE:
The software isn't multiload, yet there are 18 further data tracks on the tape. Bafflingly, there seems to be no provision to load these into the standalone program, nor do they load individually. So to save on webspace I never included them.
But the names of the files are:
ELEN.1
ELEN.2
ELEN.3
LUVH.1
LUVH.2
LUVH.3
WORK.1
WORK.2
WORK.3
HEYJ.1
HEYJ.2
HEYJ.3
DAYT.1
DAYT.2
DAYT.3
GETB.1
GETB.2
GETB.3
These may have been files used when developing the package. But if they are just temporary files of some sort, why include them on the tape?

Here's the disk copy, but hurry as it may be sold soon: http://www.sellmyretro.com/offer/details/49.
But if you do miss it, never mind. I don't suppose the disk has the quite nice loading music found on the tape version.
