Re: C64 to be Reborn ...
I do quite like the re-birth of a computer that's in the keyboard rather than in a box. That's what would make me buy it, rather than the extremely not-C64 spec of the machine.
Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?

Exactly it has nothing to do with the C64.C64GLeN wrote:Shameless cash in. Belittles the name.

Well it follows the company's tradition. I'd love to see C= stand for popular modern computers again, while also embracing the cult following. With separate business divisions though.

Re: C64 to be Reborn ...
About a decade or more ago there was another claim to make a Commodore 64-based PC. Turned out to be as this one promises, an ordinary PC with a C64 emulator:

Why call it a Commodore 64 if it patently isn't?
Where would the 1541 plug in to this new machine? Or my Action Replay, Sound Expander, MIDI cartridges, MSSIAH, Datasette and all the rest? And would I get laughed at by the support team if I told them my Colortone keyboard isn't compatible?

Ah yes, the infamous "Web.it". I remember the people behind it giving a demonstration at The Party back in the late 90s. To a room full of sceners who had nothing but disgregard for the gizmo since it didn't provide cycle exact emulation of the real thing.Commie_User wrote:About a decade or more ago there was another claim to make a Commodore 64-based PC. But at least you could play Lode Runner on it.
Re: C64 to be Reborn ...
Pretty cool to have it all in the keyboard, easy to carry around and plug into a monitor
I wouldn't mind getting one of those just because it's a commodore

Re: C64 to be Reborn ...
It's not really a Commodore... it's a rebranded existing product that still doesn't have official clearance to use the Commodore brand...trace wrote:Pretty cool to have it all in the keyboard, easy to carry around and plug into a monitor

Re: C64 to be Reborn ...
I dunno actually: I really like the idea of a powerful machine with powerful graphics that can be carried but isn't a laptop. I'd probably buy one for the front room. at the moment I've got one of those titchy Acer machines. It's underpowered but it works. I quite like this idea. As you say, pricey though.Vosla wrote:Steep price for a laptop without enclosed monitor...

Re: C64 to be Reborn ...
it would of been nicer if it had something to do with the C64 i.e built in emulation (been done, i know) or better still, built in hardware !

I think it's hideous—totally unergonomic and terribly ugly. Also, when you can stuff the majority of a computer in an enclosure as thin as a MacBook Air, I'm not sure why you need a computer quite that beefy.Chris Abbott wrote:I do quite like the re-birth of a computer that's in the keyboard rather than in a box.
