Demos or Game Music.

Post by Doddsy »

What sid remixes do you mostly like to listen too. Remixes from demos or remixes from games.

I like remixes from games as these are the sid tunes I grew up with.

I've ticked games because I was in the same route as you: playing games ages ago a lot while their music became DNA coded. Most of my fav composers were game musicians. Game music remixes have a special nostalgy factor.

Anyway, lately (thanks to HVSC) I've discovered what I've missed. Considering SID listening, I usually scan non-game composers' directories for hidden gems these days. The most frequent composers in my SIDPLAY2.5 are probably Kjell Nordbo, Drax, Hein Holt, Laxity, Cadaver etc-etc-etc... The list would be really long.

Games because most of the intros/demos that I got my hands on at the time, were ripped from games anyway.

Demos for me. I've never been much into gaming and so I never got any special relationship to any game tune.

Well, I prefer the Commodore 64 Orchestra, actually!

Anyway, you can't just carve things up as neatly as that. Some demo music is great and much game music is equally as superb. And not just in terms of the most sophisticated-sounding noises either.
