I just have to post this as this represents, at least to me, the best 80s and retro-influenced newcomer band in a long long time.
The backgrounds, the drums, the synths, all remind me of the early 80s synthbands and new wave -music I love.
According to their interview, the video (which kicks butt of any CGI/koochy-flashing video of today anytime) cost only 20GBP to make
and all of it went to the dancing woman. They shot and edited the video themselves. My respect for the DIY attitude of artists over
record companies just got a boost. Of course, Hurts is now signed to a major label but at least their starting point seems to be "feet
on the ground" and genuine, instead of all these ready-made-for-a-label-vocoder-blingbling-artists.

Last year one of them was homeless and next month they're performing in Finland and elsewhere Europe.
Talk about serious change of life.
(Their upcoming debut album is probably the only CD album I'm going to buy this year, unless the Finnish Kemopetrol releases a new album...)

Very nice smooth track.
I could watch the video in the above link fine, but when I clicked on the link within the video to watch the new video.
I got.
"This video contains content from Sony Music Entertainment, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds. "
When will these dinosaurs realize we live in a global village.

Re: Hurts - Wonderful Life
After watching this pro-produced video, I have to admit that the money shows and the video loses it's "edge".
And the mix of the music is, of course, much more commercial with some beat-tricks, vocals and editing to
make it more "exciting" by introducing some earcandy to it.
I like the original one more, but the new version is good too. They haven't changed the concept too much.

Re: Hurts - Wonderful Life
There's a different song available from Hurts for free download:
http://www.tonspion.de/musik/hurts/musik/864363
"Better Then Love", which is just as good as "Wonderful Life", which I also like very much.
But it seems to become modern to make 80s-style songs. Listen to this:
http://www.tonspion.de/musik/villa-nah/musik/979448
("Origin" by Villa Nah)
Or the new song by OMD (Orchestral Manoeres in the Dark):

Yes, they're back!!!
