Ellu... Was going through some old stuff I had laying around, and stumbled across this thing called "Riot".
Its got a bit of Tomas Rusiak feel to it, mixing wise.
Wrote it the first two days of my vacation in july 2008, sent it off to Makke for some lyrics/vocals, and got this back. Been keeping this for a long time because I'm not happy with the overall feel of the song.
I like the energy in the song though.

All input is, as always, welcome.
Riot, featuring Makke (Old stuff)
Re: Riot, featuring Makke (Old stuff)
Hmmm... You should reduce the volume of the music since Makke's vocals appear to be not present enough imo

Re: Riot, featuring Makke (Old stuff)
Is this an unreleased Front 242 track?
I do like it a lot, the vocals can go up a tad bit up but not much just a smidgit (is that a technical term?), if the vocals are 45% and Music 55% I would reverse the order.

I may be somewhat "blind" to the mixing of this by now, but having Makke's vox louder, especially considering I distorted them quite a bit, would probably just hurt your ears. =)
What I think I will do is lower the distortion ever so slightly on his vox, and filter out the topmost frequencies, and then perhaps make his voice duck the synth thing that runs in the background.
I do like the dirty and gritty feel of it as it is though.
Oh, and the lyrics...
I need some extacy to come down
get my feet back on the ground
to tip the crown of this king of clowns
'coz I'm going crazy
I am the riot, I am the storm
I am the kin to which legends are born
I am the quiet, I am the calm
I am the nuclear bomb
I need some heroin to get around
get me energized and wound
to drown out the sloth I frown
'coz I'm getting lazy
I am the riot, I am the storm
I am the kin to which legends are born
I am the quiet, I am the calm
I am the nuclear bomb
x2
(correct me if I'm wrong Makke!)
Anyhoo, I wrote a couple of these short songs around the same time as this. I wanted them to be short, to the point and intensive. Short build-ups and pretty much no fade-outs. In, make your point, get out...
This is pretty much the only one that has survived intact after my hard drive crashes though.
