This is very cool man! Suggestion: after maybe half of the time, some growling, dity, bassy thing should set in.

This is really good ANX! ... this could probably be the best I've heard from you i think
As LMan said, you need more bass energy in this one... not the drums, they are perfect, but the bassline... I'm not sure that you should ADD anything, actually I just think you should maybe bring out more of the bass riff you allready got ... it's a bit "laid back" in the mix giving you the impression that the bass is missing... it would sound absolutely great, if you pulled some more bass frequencies out of it I think.
And then it's as if I'm waiting for at long noisy snaredrum in there also.
I especially like the choir sound, and the effects that set in sometimes... gives a good mood to it.
Funny enough, that robotic choir sound... I used that on AMIGA a lot back in the days... where did you find that sound?

Yeah, I think you are right, I dont hate itRazmo wrote:This is really good ANX! ... this could probably be the best I've heard from you i think
I did try to bring the bass up but the overall track becomes boomy. I'll have to readup on how to do this.Razmo wrote: As LMan said, you need more bass energy in this one... not the drums, they are perfect, but the bassline... I put a bit of a dirty snare in there just for you. You can have a listen once I update the track.Razmo wrote: And then it's as if I'm waiting for at long noisy snaredrum in there also.
One of the things that I like doing is sprinkling something tasty for a short bit, making the listener want more,Razmo wrote: I especially like the choir sound, and the effects that set in sometimes... gives a good mood to it.
but thats all they get and if they want to hear it again, they have to replay the song
The Choir sound you hear, came from my Roland W-30 it was on one of few free sound banks I got from a local music store back inRazmo wrote: Funny enough, that robotic choir sound... I used that on AMIGA a lot back in the days... where did you find that sound?

What you may find interesting is, that I was actually doing a cover of Oxygene 13, I got the drum track down, I even know how to play the main lead, but after 4 hours of that, I saved it, and started on a new track and this is what I ended up with.

Re: New Song 09182011
Ok Changes made, new version top of this thread.
Re: New Song 09182011
I checked your tune on my main speakers today (heard it on headphones the other night)... It's hard to describe WHY the bass sound "laid back"... it's not much, and it's not that it's not "present"... I think it's probably a matter of EQ'ing the bassline... maybe a little compression to tighten it up... I'm not sure, and I don't have any suggestions to be honest.
Anyways... I don't want to complain, it sounds really good ... just me babling about small details as always

Re: New Song 09182011
I've tried all kinds of things on the bass, which easily turns into mud. The current version does have some compression on it. I'll try a few other things to see if I can make it a bit more pronounced.
I'm considering adding some type of vocal hits to it.
As well I will be making some type of video to go along with the track.

Re: New Song 09182011 v6
Sometimes a bassline can be pumped up by putting a mirror of it in, an octave up with much shorter notes and a punchier instrument at a relatively low volume. And sometimes that doesn't work at all
Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?

Is there a section of the track that you need needs a bass boost? Give me a timeline and I'll have a looksy.Chris Abbott wrote:Sometimes a bassline can be pumped up by putting a mirror of it in, an octave up with much shorter notes and a punchier instrument at a relatively low volume.
